Our Birth Mom Letter...

Each waiting family at Adoption Associates assembles what is called a Profile. This is what I call a "brochure" about our story, family and community in which we live. The Profile serves as a small introduction to us and what we have to offer a child that we may adopt. Usually, the agency will interview a potential Birthmother and take her criteria and try to match it with a few families that may have some of the same views or beliefs. The Birthmother may be presented with several Profiles to see if any stand out to her. Then the agency can proceed with a possible meeting of Birthmother and Adoptive Family to see if, indeed, it is a good match. The profile features 5 pictures of the Adoptive Family and a Birthmother Letter. We have decided to include our Birthmother Letter in our blog just in case there is a Birthmom out there who may view it and choose to contact us for a possible meeting. We are so excited to expand our family, and we hope OUR Birthmother is out there right now searching for a loving family like ours to help her with a difficult decision. Dear Birthmother,
We are Steve and Kristin. Thanks for taking the time to learn about us. Both you and we have been through some trying times in our lives lately. We have coped with infertility for fours years and the devastating knowledge that alone, we cannot fulfill our dream for more children. You too have experienced an overwhelming situation in your life. It is difficult to predict the paths that our lives are going to take. The direction you have chosen takes an amazing strength of spirit and faith, filled with uncertainty and heartache. Your loving heart will lead to a wonderful result for your child. By committing yourself to adoption, you are giving the most valuable gift that can be given-the miracle of life. Your extraordinary generosity will open the door to amazing possibilities for your child, and we hope we are just the parents you are looking for. Be assured that the trust you put in us to care for your child will never be broken. Your precious baby will thrive in our family and his/her life will be filled with endless opportunities for the best life possible. We promise to provide a stable, happy home.

About Us:
We met fourteen years ago at college and have been married for ten years. We have a strong marriage built on a solid foundation. Our parents have had long, rewarding marriages, so we know what it takes to stay together for a lifetime. We were brought up with "old-fashioned" values and good common sense. People often tell us that we are relaxed and down to earth, and we feel that is one secret to our strong relationship. We spend most of our free time together, but we realize that it is also important to spend time cultivating our own hobbies and interests. For Steve, this might be playing sports with friends while Kristin enjoys quiet moments reading, working out or cooking homemade meals.

As you can see from our photo at the top of this post, we take pride in our home and work hard to make it a comfortable place to live. We love to entertain family and friends for birthday parties, holidays, and cookouts in the summer. We are so fortunate to have supportive and loving parents and aunts and uncles who add so much to a child's well being. We really appreciate the things we have. Recently, we remodeled our home, which doubled our space. We now have plenty of room for our family to grow. Nothing could be better than to fill another bedroom with a new baby!

Our Family:
Our daughter, Carson, is six years old. She makes our lives so rich, and it is our greatest desire to have more children. She already loves reading, swimming, playing at the park, dancing to her favorite music, and of course, her precious dolls. We already know that she will make the best big sister just by the way the spends countless hours caring for her "babies", loving to pretend to be the mom in the most gentle and loving manner. She longs to have a little brother or sister. Her face lights up whenever she's around a baby. We know she would be so happy to show a new little brother or sister how the world works!
Kristin is a former elementary school teacher who is a natural at being a mom. Because of her background, she understands how to develop the curious mind of a child. She already taught Carson a love of reading and "doing projects". Steve is a successful medical sales rep. Kristin is able to be a stay at home mom, which we firmly believe to be so important in bringing up children these days. It is important to us for Kristin to be home to help keep our family life centered. She is able to be involved in Carson's daily schedule and make time for many meaningful activities each day. It is important to have a sense of peace and harmony at home.
We believe we strike a great balance as parents. Steve possesses a calm, warm, and friendly nature. It's obvious that he's a devoted dad. He loves to play with Carson and never hesitates to act goofy for her benefit! Like most moms, Kristin is the family's designated "master planner" who takes care of the day to day business of running their home smoothly. She has a good common sense approach to parenting-a mixture of love, kindness, humor, structure, and discipline.

Our Community:
Our suburban community is just the right place to raise a family. With plenty of parks and close by downtown, we are never at a loss for things to do. Our downtown has so much community spirit with a fabulous library (favorite hang out)and an ice cream shop (another favorite hangout). We have wonderful neighbors and look forward to many years of family gatherings and good times. Our school is located just two blocks away. We also look forward to walking our children to school everyday.
